Offense

The quarterback position belongs to Marcel Reed. The dual threat signal caller has all the talent in the world but must be more consistent. 12 interceptions are far too many. Reed passed for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns, while adding 493 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Those numbers should only increase this season.

The running back room returns experience in Rueben Owens II and Jamarion Morrow. Both will see their numbers increase this season. Watch out for redshirt freshman Tiger Riden, as well as true freshmen KJ Edwards and Carsyn Baker. Edwards could be a future star.

The wide receiver room returns production in Mario Craver (All-SEC), Ashton Bethel-Roman, and Terry Bussey. The additions of Isaiah Horton (Alabama) and true freshmen Aaron Gregory and Jayden Warren, along with tight ends Richie Anderson (Fresno State) and Houston Thomas (UTSA) take this unit to the next level.

The offensive line room will be transfer heavy. Mark Nabou Jr., Ashton Funk, Blake Ivy, and Robert Bourdon all have experience. The additions of Wilkin Formby (Alabama), Tyree Adams (LSU), Coen Echols (LSU), and Trovon Baugh (South Carolina) all bring SEC starting experience to this unit.

Defense

The defensive line room helped A&M finish fourth in the nation in sacks last season. TJ Searcy, DJ Hicks, Landon Rink, and Marco Jones have the most returning experience. The additions of CJ Mims (North Carolina), Angelo McCullom (Illinois), Anto Saka (Northwestern), Ryan Henderson (San Diego State), and Brandon Davis-Swain (Colorado) bring a lot to this unit.

The linebacker room returns some experience in Daymion Sanford, Jordan Lockhart, and Noah Mikhall. Sanford will be relied upon heavily. The additions of TJ Smith (Houston Christian), Ray Coney (Tulsa), and multiple true freshmen should help provide a spark to this unit. Coney was Top 10 nationally in tackles last season.

The secondary returns production in Jordan Shaw, Bravion Rogers, Dezz Ricks, Julio Humphrey, Marcus Ratcliffe, Dalton Brooks, and Myles Davis. The additions of Rickey Gibson III (Tennessee), Tawfiq Byard (Colorado), and 5-star true freshman Brandon Arrington could help turn this into an elite unit.

Specialists

Punter Tyler White returns after a solid season. Kicking duties will belong to Illinois transfer David Olano, who’s 86% field goal success rate is a major upgrade. Mario Carver and Terry Bussey are major weapons returning punts and kicks as well.

2026 Schedule

  • 9/5 Missouri State
  • 9/12 Arizona State
  • 9/19 Kentucky
  • 9/26 at LSU
  • 10/3 Arkansas
  • 10/10 at Missouri
  • 10/17 The Citadel
  • 10/24 at Alabama
  • 11/7 at South Carolina
  • 11/14 Tennessee
  • 11/21 at Oklahoma
  • 11/27 Texas

Final Analysis

Consistency has always been the issue at Texas A&M. That will change under the leadership of Mike Elko, one of the best coaches in the game. It has been 30 years since A&M had back-to-back 10-win seasons. That can happen in 2026 if the Aggies play more consistently, especially on offense.
