The quarterback room will see multiple transfers battle for the job. Michael Van Buren Jr. (LSU), Luke Kromenhoek (Mississippi State), KJ Cooper (Texas Southern), and Jayden Bradford (Liberty) all bring something to the table. Van Buren is the favorite as he started games at LSU and Mississippi State.
The running back room returns some experience in Alvon Isaac and Chase Garnett. The additions of DJ Crowther (Dartmouth) and Jason Collins Jr. (Morgan State) bring proven production to the room. Crowther’s had 929 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and Collins rushed for over 1,000 yards over the last two seasons.
The wide receiver room returns experience in Mudia Reuben, JeyQuan Smith, Joshua Porter, and tight end Wyatt Sullivan. The additions of Cameron Seldon (Virginia Tech), Armani Winfield (Colorado State), Bryson Rodgers (Ohio State), Jaron Glover (Mississippi State), Kenny Odom (UTEP), and Arhmad Branch (Purdue) all bring something to the table.
The offensive line room returns Thomas Shrader but will be transfer heavy. The additions of Jaylin Acevedo (Navy), Devin Davis (Charlotte), Julius Tate (Coastal Carolina), Caleb Cook (Georgia Southern), Cash Hudson (Missouri State), Michael Wooten (Arizona), Ethan Green (Cincinnati), and Kahari Finley (Morgan State) will need time to build chemistry as a unit.
The defensive line room returns experience in Michael Williams II, Levi Smiley, Jahari Grant, Ryan Jenkins, and Ashton Mosley. The additions of CJ Hicks (Ohio State), Asani Redwood (West Virginia), Terrell Jones (Virginia), Shamar Meikle (Oregon State), Terry Simmons Jr. (Duke), and Major Dillard (Norfolk State) provide substantial depth to this unit.
The linebacker room returns some experience in Zavier Hamilton and Rodney Hill. The additions of Michael Harris (Maryland), Marshon Oxley (West Virgina), Harrysson Ngassa (Illinois), Sam Robinson (Rutgers), and Grayson Howard (Florida) are massive for this unit. Robinson and Howard have the most upside.
The secondary is very transfer heavy. Tavin Ward is a returning starter. The additions of Tayvion Beasley (BYU), Ayden Jackson (Georgia Southern), JR Rosenberg (Texas A&M), Za’Quan Bryan (Minnesota), Israel Boyce (West Virginia), Teddy Foster (Florida), Malcom Ziglar (North Carolina), A’mon Lane-Ganus (Auburn), and Amarion Fortenberry (Kansas State) will all need time for acclimation.
Kicker Nico Gramatica returns and lives up to his name with a leg that can hit 50 plus yard field goals without any concern. Punting duties will belong to Luke Goater. There are plenty of amazing athletes on this roster to return kicks and punts.
This is Year 30 of the USF Bulls football program, and they are still searching for that first conference title. There are a lot of new faces for new head coach Brian Hartline and company but there are tons of talent on this roster. Plus, the schedule sets up well for them to make some noise.
